ABOUT THE COLLEGE |

Leading the Nation with Advanced FacilitiesCollege of Engineering alumni, industry partners, and current students and faculty have a very special place to meet at Cal Poly: the Engineering Plaza. Located in the core of a consolidated engineering campus in the northwest sector of the university, the Engineering Plaza serves as the heart of Cal Poly's world-renowned engineering programs. Facilities surrounding the plaza include the Advanced Technologies Laboratories, the Bonderson Projects Center and Engineering IV. Engineering IV, the new State-financed facility, along with the privately-built Bonderson Projects Center, will ensure that the College of Engineering maintains its vital role as a technology leader. In order to create a space that is uniquely "engineering" in character, award-winning landscape architect, Jeffery Gordon Smith (Landscape Architecture '89) has prepared a design based on the Fibonacci Sequence, a mathematical expression that describes a place of beginnings that spirals out infinitely. To find out how to purchase a tile, see Becoming a Plaza Member To view the Plaza and other landmarks, use the Engineering IV WebCam |
“We took 18 club members to the Society of Black Engineers & Scientists convention in Pittsburgh, which was very inspiring.”
It was the "Learn by Doing" mantra that first attracted me to Cal Poly. The Multicultural Engineering Program scholarship allowed me to focus on my studies. It also allowed me the time to be president of the Society of Black Engineers & Scientists. The support of companies that fund scholarships is vital and is, of course, very much appreciated. |
