Contact: Amy Hewes Event Advisory: Space-to-Ground with NASA Astronaut Gregory ChamitoffWhat: “Space-to-Ground with NASA Astronaut Gregory Chamitoff (EE ’84)” with a special presentation by U.S. Navy Test Pilot Lieutenant Victor Glover (GENE ’99) Cal Poly students and faculty and over 100 local K12 students will interact via a live link-up with NASA Astronaut Gregory Chamitoff aboard the International Space Station. In addition to the live question-and-answer session with Astronaut Chamitoff, LT Glover will give a talk about how to become a Navy pilot and astronaut. The K12 students will tour the College of Engineering laboratories. Who: Invited participants include: •· Cal Poly students and faculty•· 4th Grade "CaliKids" class from Mary Buren Elementary School (Guadalupe)•· 1st - 6th graders from San Luis Obispo Christian School•· 8th Grade Technology Classes from Daniel Lewis Middle School (Paso Robles)•· Invention & Design Engineering (IDEA) Academy students from Arroyo Grande High SchoolNote for Press and Media Representatives: The event is open to the press; NASA regulations, however, preclude press from the live teleconference with Astronaut Chamitoff. Press is invited to the presentation by LT Glover and may also interview students who have interacted directly with Astronaut Chamitoff after the live session has concluded.
