August 03, 2012
One of the 11 CubeSats hitching a ride aboard the Atlas 5 rocket launch on August 2 is Cal Poly's CP5 CubeSat, which will test a miniature solar sail that helps monitor spacecraft performance.
Liftoff was originally scheduled for August 2, but was delayed due to instrumentation issues.
The CubeSat Project is part of NASA's educational program, with Cal Poly leading the launch coordination for an international collaboration of more than 40 universities, high schools and private firms.
