Lieutenant Victor Glover entered the Navy in 1998 via the Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program while attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He graduated in 1999 with a B.S. in General Engineering. Following graduation it was off to Officers Candidate School in Pensacola Florida. LT Glover graduated from OCS a Distinguished Graduate, for attaining the highest marks in his class, and subsequently commissioned Dec. 10, 1999. Following commissioning LT Glover began flight school. The journey to his wings of gold would begin in Pensacola, FL with Aviation Preflight Indoctrination, followed by Primary Flight School in Corpus Christi, TX and culminating with Strike Training in Kingsville, TX. LT Glover was winged a Naval Aviator on Dec. 14, 2001. The following year was spent in the Marine Fleet Replacement Squadron, VMFAT-101, in Miramar, CA. After completing the F/A-18 syllabus he was off to his first Fleet Squadron. LT Glover was a member of AIRLANT's Newest and Most Tactical Strike Fighter Squadron, the VFA-34 Blue Blasters from March 2004 to April 2006. While with the Blue Blasters he completed a deployment onboard the USS John F. Kennedy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and work-ups onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. While deployed he flew 24 combat missions into Iraq. LT Glover was then selected as the Navy Exchange Pilot to attend the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School. During test pilot school he was selected by his peers for the Onizuka Prop Wash Award and afterward designated a Test Pilot June 9, 2007. He currently serves as a test pilot at Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Three One (VX-31) testing various weapons systems on the F/A -18 Hornet and Super Hornet. LT Glover's interest and hobbies include tutoring and mentoring, reading, team sports, community service and various professional and civic organizations. His awards and decorations include; Navy Achievement Medal (2); Iraq Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Expert Marksman Ribbon; Air Force Test Pilot School's Ellsion Onizuka "Prop Wash" Award; and the Shades of Blue Ed Dwight, Jr. Achievement Award. |
