National Engineers Week: Event Advisory

Cal Poly engineering students will enjoy a week's worth of activities to celebrate, teach and learn about the profession.

What:  National Engineers Week

Cal Poly engineering students will enjoy a week's worth of activities to celebrate, teach and learn about the profession. Throughout the week, students can hear prominent engineers speak about their experience and participate in engineering-related games. Cal Poly's Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA), and Engineering Student Council (ESC) have each organized events to teach local K-12 students about opportunities in engineering. Student clubs will also host an Engineering Club Fair at Farmer's Market in Downtown San Luis Obispo.

When: February 18 - 22, 2008.
 
          Monday, Feb. 18
          Opening Ceremonies, Videogame Tournament - 11:00 a.m. - 2 p.m.
          Kick-Off Address, Student/Club Mixer - 6:00-8:00 p.m.
          Free pizza to students holding a passport from the keynote address
 
         Tuesday/Wednesday, Feb. 19/20
         Company Showcase - 11:00 a.m. - 3 p.m.
 
         Thursday, Feb. 21
         Tom Bishop, Special Presentation - 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. 
         Outreach Activities (SWE, MESA and ESC) - 12:00-5:00 p.m.
         Engineers in the Community, SLO Farmer's Market - 5:30-9:00 p.m.

         Friday, Feb. 22
         Faculty/Staff Appreciation and Closing Ceremonies - 9:00-11:00 a.m.

        *Tee shirts given away at all events

Where: Cal Poly campus, downtown San Luis Obispo, local K-12 schools
