Breitenbach Published by the prestigious Oxford University Press, A Mathematics Companion for Science and Engineering Students is designed to help undergraduate engineering students get past a frequent stumbling block: math. The 500-page book serves as a reference for topics in precalculus mathematics, while opening the doors to mathematical discourse, writing, and thinking. The author, Dr. Jerome R. Breitenbach, has been a member of Cal Poly’s Electrical Engineering Department since 1981. His research interests include telecommunications, signal processing, and the foundations of mathematics. He has been honored with several awards including, from his students at Cal Poly, “The Instructor from Whom I Learned the Most.” For more information on Dr. Breitenbach’s book, see A Mathematics Companion.
