Performing Art Center's Pavilion

Smith will present an illustrated lecture on how the Great Pyramid at Giza, Egypt was designed and constructed more than 4,500 years ago. Last survivor of the "Seven Wonders of the Ancient World" it was built without the use of iron tools, pulleys or the wheel. This lecture summarizes his research and the age-old questions of how many workers were required and how long did it take to complete the construction.

 About Dr. Craig B. Smith:

He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Master of Science and Ph. D. in Engineering from UCLA.  With nearly 40 years experience in the engineering and construction of large, complex projects, he became chairman of DMJM H+N in 2003.

Featured on the Arts and Entertainment Channel, PBS, the History Channel, and National Geographic Magazine, one of Smith's books, "How the Great Pyramid Was Built," was published by the Smithsonian Institution Press.
