Admission Requirements to Join MCRP/MS Engineering Degree with Specialization in Transportation Planning, for International Applicants

Students applying to the joint program must choose a home department, either the City and Regional Planning Dept. or the Civil & Environmental Engineering Dept. It is most common to select the CRP Dept. as home. If you choose the CRP Dept. as home, your Graduate Coordinator is Professor Cornelius Nuworsoo (Email: cnuworso@calpoly.edu). If you choose the CEENVE Dept as home, your Graduate Coordinator is Professor Ed Sullivan (Email: esulliva@calpoly.edu). Please contact your Graduate Coordinator for any additional questions about applying to this degree program.

The deadline for completing your application appears below. All parts of your application must have arrived at Cal Poly by the date shown. Note that you are strongly encouraged to submit your materials well before this normal deadline.

Your completed application must include the following:

  1. A formal application made through CSU Mentor (on-line or using a downloaded application form)
  2. Official transcripts from ALL colleges previously attended (except Cal Poly), mailed to: Cal Poly, Admissions Office, San Luis Obispo, CA 93407
  3. Scores from the General Test of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), sent directly to Cal Poly using institution code 4038. Current or recently graduate Cal Poly students may contact the Graduate Coordinator to request that this requirement be waived.
  4. Three letters of recommendation from faculty members on institutional letterhead, addressed to: Graduate Coordinator, San Luis Obispo, CA 93407. Letters from professional supervisors or mentors may also be accepted with prior agreement. The program does not use a standard recommendation form.
  5. A previously completed project or paper that demonstrates your professional maturity, high standards of academic accomplishment, and writing ability.
  6. Results of the TOEFL test taken within the past two years directed to institution code 4038. Go to Cal Poly's TOEFL website for additional TOEFL instructions.

“My path to Cal Poly is a little longer than most.

I was born in Nigeria and went to high school in Bakersfield. I've always been interested in solid state and polymer electronics, so when my engineering club at Bakersfield College announced a field trip to Cal Poly, I was definitely excited.
